Digital Literacy is a set of skills for using computers and other devices that can be broken down to three main principles:
Use - the technical fluency that’s needed to engage with computers and the Internet. For example: knowing how to turn on the computer, send out an email and conduct a search using search engines and online databases.
Understand - the ability to comprehend, contextualize, and critically evaluate digital media so that we can make informed decisions about what we do and encounter online. For example, evaluating websites, recognizing phishing and other scams, understanding social media etiquette.
Create - the ability to produce content and effectively communicate through a variety of digital media tools. For example: creating a blog, embeding a video, participating in discussion forums, sharing a photo sharing, engaging in online social gaming.
